Sara is a reading teacher at South Middle School. She has been teaching for 27 years, spending the first 25 years in elementary education and the last two in middle school. Sara knew from the age of eight that she was destined to become a teacher, often keeping the attention of various “students,” such as her dad, her dog and her dolls, for hours on end in her basement. She also found inspiration from her seventh grade geography teacher, J.D. Nelson, during her own time at South Middle. Her favorite part of teaching is the relationships she builds with students and families. She feels gratitude and a sense of success when former students approach her to catch up, knowing she did the job “right.” A fun fact about Sara is that last summer she climbed the Manitou Incline in Colorado, a significant physical achievement and one of her proudest moments.
