The Saline County Sheriff’s Office is investigating four, small fires that were sparked overnight.
According to Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, Rural Fire District #5 responded to four, separate fires that occurred between Monday night at 11pm and 12:55am Tuesday morning.
Deputies say a round bale of hay was destroyed by fire in the 2000 block of S. Niles Road at 11pm last night. Total loss is $100.
A small grass fire was extinguished in the 9100 block of E. Magnolia Road at 11:54pm. A deputy found a fresh trail of footprints in some of the mud at the scene.
About 12:45am and 12:55am, Rural Fire District #5 also put out two small grass fires in the 7300 block of S. Holmes Road and the 3900 block of S. Holmes Road.
Sheriff Kochanowski tells KSAL News that although no accelerant was found, the fires are suspicious.
