A Lincoln, Kansas man was arrested and returned to Saline County to face charges of assault and kidnapping.

According to Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney, 31-year-old Clinton G. Cheney was arrested in Lincoln County Thursday night after being sought by authorities in Salina for holding a female acquaintance against her will.

A woman in her 30’s told officers that Cheney held her in a south Salina home on Thursday for over six hours, threatening to stab her with a knife.

At one point the victim said he strangled her until she nearly lost consciousness.

Cheney is now facing multiple charges including aggravated assault, kidnapping and criminal threat.
