Salina Police Department is investigating a scam on Craigslist.

A 31-year old female employee of Salina Dental Arts reported she had listed dental chairs on Craigslist. She received several text messages from a man using the name of Matt Baker, who stated he was interested in purchasing the chairs for $800.

Baker sent a check to the woman worth $2,000 to buy the chairs and cover the cost of moving. He instructed her to transfer the remaining money to a Jose Gonzales through a MoneyGram for the cost of moving.

The employee is reporting a loss of $1,200 in the alleged scam.

I posted our Xmas display on Craigslist and got the same thing…but I knew it was a scam…it’s just so obvious it’s a scam..but me being me..I played along til I got sent the check..then I went straight to the police..I never cashed it cause I knew…didn’t do anything..but really..it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know this was a scam…so I’m very sorry..but I cant feel sorry for the lady…this kind of thing has been going on for quite some time…if ur dumb enough to cash that check and do what they say..then u deserve everything u get..sorry if that’s harsh..but it’s the truth..take the loss..and lesson learned…
