A woman is killed in a crash involving a deer on Interstate 70 late Sunday night.

According to the Kansas Hughway Patrol, 22-year-old Kayla Lowrey was driving a Pontiac G6 car westbound on the interstate. A deer ran in front of the vehicle, and she hit the the brakes.

The car began skidding sideways and entered the center median. It impacted a washout, rolled several times across the eastbound lanes, and came to rest facing southwest partially in the right lane of eastbound Interstate 70.

Lowrey was killed in the crash. A passenger, 22-year-old Grace Holmes of Topeka, was hurt and was transported to a Topeka hospital.
