Woman Charged with Battery, Animal Cruelty

An argument sparks a woman to throw a cell phone at a man and slam a kitten against the wall.

Salina Police arrested 20-year-old Ashley Morris on charges that include domestic battery, animal cruelty and damage to property.

A 19-year-old male told officers who responded to the Chapel Ridge Apartments on Monday that the woman hit him in the head with a cell phone.

The victim told police he drove around and then returned, only to discover Morris had hidden his mobile phone and iPad.

The argument escalated again as Morris allegedly threw his kitten on the floor – and then against a wall. Police say she also damaged a television by throwing a Sensi candle burner and stereo docking station at the screen.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that Morris was also in violation of a no contact court order. The kitten was not injured.
