Winter Storm Keeps Officers Busy

The winter storm that dropped heavy snow on Tuesday kept law enforcement around the area, and around the state, busy.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, between 6:00 Tuesday morning and 6:00 Wednesday morning, troopers worked 129 property damage crashes, 12 injury crashes, 475 motorist assists, and 1 fatality crash.

Locally, Salina Police worked 8 non injury accidents, and assisted 51 motorists. Of the motorist assists, 31 were officer initiated and 20 of them were generated by calls to dispatch.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski says that he does not have specific numbers, but that his agency worked numerous motorist assists Tuesday. The sheriff says that there not any injury accidents in the county.

While roads are in better shape today, officials are still urging extreme caution while driving.
