Wind Causes Car To Crash

Two teens are hurt in a crash near Abilene caused by the wind.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Kade Stroud of Abilene was driving a Chevrolet Prizm west on Interstate 70. A strong gust of wind caught the car, pushing it out of its lane.

Stroud over-corrected. The car slid into the median and skidded across the eastbound lanes of traffic on its side. It came to rest in the south ditch, on its wheels, after rolling three to four times.

Stroud was transported to the hospital in Abilene. A 13-year-old passenger, Kobey Stroud, was transported to the same hospital. Troopers say both were buckled up.

The crash happened Wednesday evening at 6:16 about three miles east of Abilene on Interstate 70.
