Weekend Winter Storm Expected

Another cold blast of winter will move through Kansas this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a strong winter storm will impact much of the state. A winter storm watch is in effect from Saturday night through Sunday night.

Three to five inches of snow is expected across central Kansas. For the area roughly east of I-35, precipitation may start as light freezing rain and freezing drizzle, then transition to mainly sleet mixed with light snow.

In addition, gusty north winds will result in wind chills well below zero, and considerable blowing and drifting of the snow across central Kansas.

Along with the snow, it will be very cold. An overnight low of 2 is forecast for Saturday. On Sunday, after a high of just 9, an overnight low of -2 Is expected. The wind chill will be in the -10 to -15 range.
