Stolen Car Quickly Crashes

A Salina Police investigation remains open after a vehicle that was reported stolen was found crashed just 50-yards away from where it was originally parked.

Police Captain Paul Forrester tells KSAL News that 47-year-old Monte Bohl of Ellsworth contacted Salina Police last Friday morning to report his 2008 Pontiac G6 convertible had been stolen from the 700 block of S. 2nd Street.

The car was valued at $7,000.

Several hours later, the owner of a 2007 Chevy Impala who lives nearby in the 700 block of S. 2nd called authorities to report her car had been rear ended and heavily damaged by the G6.

Bohl told officers he was visiting a friend on S. 2nd and left the car unlocked and the keys in the cupholder.

Police say the Pontiac struck the Chevy from behind – then hit a curb knocking the tire off the rim. The tire was then placed in the car and abandoned.

Captain Forrester says they are now looking for Mr. Bohl with additional questions on the matter.
