USD 305 Linking Parents to Digital Future

As online enrollment begins Tuesday, July 15th, for returning USD 305 students – parents and guardians are asked to walk into Salina Central High or Salina South High this week for a look at the computer their student will be using this year in the classroom.

USD 305 Superintendent Bill Hall joined in on the KSAL Morning News with an invitation for parents to learn how the new Chromebooks will use the cloud at school and then come home.

“The success of this really depends on a partnership, and it’s a partnership between the school and the home,” Superintendent Hall said.

“We want to make sure that parents understand exactly what’s expected and the functions of this particular device as well and how it will enhance what’s happening in the classroom.”

Meetings for parents to see the Chromebooks in use are scheduled for Tuesday, July 15th at South High School at 9am, 2pm and 7pm.

On Thursday July 17th parents may attend meetings at Central High School at 9am, 2pm and 7pm.

Parents and guardians will not need to buy a Chromebook for their students; the devices will be provided to all students grades 9-12. However, the textbook rental fee is now $100 (sliding scale still applies).

The first day of class for most USD 305 students is Tuesday, August 12th.
