Two More Arrested in Connection to Cleve’s Gun Case

The Salina Police Department made two more arrests over the weekend in connection to a stolen guns case.

On Saturday at 935pm officers recognized a suspect in the 300 block of North Columbia as having active warrants out for his arrest.

Jason McCarty, 36, ran from police after being identified near the intersection of Elm and Columbia on foot. After reaching for his waistband and tossing an item, he was stopped in the 900 block of East Elm and placed under arrest.

Upon searching the area, officers located a black and silver Springfield .45 semi-automatic handgun in the grass which was connected as one of the stolen guns from Cleve’s Marine & Sporting Goods Store on April 14.

McCarty is charged on counts of criminal possession and possession of stolen property.

On Sunday at 7am the Salina Police Department Special Response Team was sent to a home in the 200 block of South 11th Street where a search warrant was served.

The suspect, Jacky McConnell, 35, was stopped from leaving his residence and placed under arrest.

In a search of the home, officers located two plastic bags of methamphetamine containing approximately 38 grams along with other drug paraphernalia. Also found was a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun connected to the burglary at Cleve’s. Two other guns were also found but it has not yet been determined if they are related to the case.

McConnell is charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property.
