Two Hurt When Car Hits Truck

KSAL Staff - July 30, 2015 5:30 pm

A two-vehicle crash in rural Saline County east of Salina sent two people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Buick Lucerne passenger car was headed east on Waterwell Road. The driver of the car failed to yield the right of way, and struck the driver’s side of a Mack truck that was headed north on Donmyer Road.

The car spun into a ditch. The truck came to a rest in a field to the northwest of the intersection.

The driver of the car, 75-year-old Carolyn Beetch of Carlton, and a passenger, 90-year-old Laverna Ernst of Enterprise, were both hurt. They were transported to the hospital in Salina.

The driver of the truck, 58-year-old Kenneth Cimler of Solomon, was possibly injured but was not transported to the hospital.

Everyone involved was buckled up.

The crash happened  at 2:45 Thursday afternoon, at the intersection of Waterwell Road and Donmyer Road in rural Saline County.

I tell you these trucks go up and down the road like they are on I70. I ran into this when they were hauling gravel to the power plant south on Simpson road. There should have been someone out there giving out tickets. Lucky everyone was ok this time might not be so the next time.
