Trial Date Set In Teen Murder Case

KSAL Staff - April 28, 2015 6:07 am

Sierra Niehaus (left) is accused of stabbing to death her 13-year-old sister Galazia Niehaus (right).

A Saline County teen accused of stabbing her sister to death appeared in court Monday, for the first time as an adult.

Officials tell KSAL News that 15-year-old Sierra Niehaus pled not guilty to the death of her 13-year-old sister Galazia. Sierra, who was 14-years-old at the time, is accused of stabbing Galazia to death back in August.

Back on April 14th Judge Patrick Thompson ruled that Sierra would be prosecuted as an adult.

The case stems from the death of  Galazia Niehaus. The Saline County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a stabbing at about 1:45 in the morning on Friday, August 1st. When deputies arrived at the scene in Northwest Saline County they found the body of Galazia, who had been stabbed to death.

Sierra was being held in the Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City. Following Ths ruling on April 14th, she was transferred to the Saline County Jail. She is being held on a million dollar bond.

A trial date of September 15th has been set in the case.

Being tried as an adult is the most ridiculous thing this judge has done in years. I hope I am called for jury duty. The big question still remains why the mother and father have not been charged with anything. Why is the judge and county attorney turning a blind eye towards them?

A good point was made at coffee today about the judge. He said he considered this 15 year old a threat to the community so she has to be tried as an adult. But by the same token he let’s this guy from pump mart remain free after he has grabbed numerous women and the police have found drugs in the place. Yet he keeps giving this guy continuances and he remains free. Now really who is the bigger threat to our community?
