After a ten year wait for Star Wars heroes to return to the big screen, Salina turned out in big numbers to Thursday’s premiere showing at the Starplex Cinema.

Starplex Cinema Manager Tammy Kromer tells KSAL News that 400 tickets sold for the first shows, selling out two theatres.

One trio of friends attending the film’s opening night were Jared Davis, Holly Treloggen and Matthew Pantle, all students at Southeast of Saline High School.

The three gave KSAL a brief movie review following the show that they all rated as pretty solid.

Holly gave the film the highest rating of the group with a 5 out of 5 Star Wars Popcorn Tubs, “I was really surprised and really happy about how much action there was for the female character,” she said in regards to Ray who is played by actress Daisy Ridley.

“Now there’s another kickbutt girl that’s not Princess Leia.”

Jared, who gave the film a 4.3 Popcorn Tubs, felt the old cast blended into their new storyline very well, “They just come in with gray hair and get the movie going and get you hyped” he said.

Matthew pointed out the re-boot on the Millennium Falcon spaceship was clever, “It came in a very perfect way. They could not have played that better,” he said.

Although Matthew was disappointed in one character, “The villain was not very strong.” He still rated the newest film in the Star Wars franchise with a 4.3 Popcorn Tubs.

According to The Walt Disney Company, last night’s opening took in a box office record of $57-million dollars, breaking the mark of $43.5 million set back in 2011 by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
