Test Of Salina CodeRED System Planned

Official’s will test Salina’s local emergency notification system.

Back in February Salina and Saline County implemented the CodeRED high-speed emergency notification service. The system can send messages to both citizens and City/County personnel by using telephone calls, text messages, emails and social media in an effort to effectively inform residents to protect life and property. CodeRED, among other notification systems available, was selected for its unrivaled reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s global use.

According to the Saline County Emergency Management Office, CodeRED will be conducting a complimentary CodeRED All Call. A call will be placed on Tuesday June 24th at 2pm. Residents need not be alarmed, this will allow officials to evaluate the local telephone infrastructure so it can match its capacity with the amount of lines used during a real event. This will also help to drive residents to enlist additional phone numbers, cell phones, email and text addresses.

All residents living within Saline County are encouraged to visit either one of these sites: http://www.salinesheriff.org/ http://ci.salina.ks.us and click on the CodeRED logo to enroll additional contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email addresses.
