The opening of a business, and a road, signified Wednesday that the first phase of a major North Salina Project is nearly complete.
Iron Avenue, from Ohio to Kansas Streets, opened for traffic Wednesday morning. Also Wednesday morning the Taco Bell restaurant, located at the corner of Iron and Ohio Streets, re-opened for business.
Both the street and restaurant closed in late May, and were closed the entire summer.
The road closure was part of a larger project, the replacement of Iron Avenue. The first phase, which was projected to be completed at the end of September, stretches from Penn Avenue to Ohio Street. The second phase of the project will stretch from Penn Avenue to the downtown area. The final phase will then shift to portions of Iron Avenue east of Ohio Street.
The Taco Bell closed for a remodel project, which included demolishing the existing facility and then rebuilding a brand new store from the ground up.
