Suspects May Be Tied to Other Salina Crimes

Two men are detained in Nebraska, in connection to a van that was stolen from a Salina church.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, police is Hastings, Nebraska contacted SPD on Thursday morning after finding a 2001 Ford Econoline E350 van – registered to the Church of Christ 1646 N. 9th at about 9:40am.

Lt. Siemsen tells KSAL News that further investigation led officers to find a glass door on the church shattered. Police say it appears nothing was stolen from inside but someone rummaged through the church and office.

Police believe the two men may have tried to steal a 1998 Chevy Blazer earlier in the day.

The vehicle was damaged while it was parked at a nearby business located at 1615 N. 9th.

Officers say someone tampered with the fuse box and damaged the steering column.

Salina Police are working with authorities in Hastings to file charges.
