Suspected Pipe Bomb Filled with Dirt

Salina Police get a Sunday morning call about a possible pipe bomb.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, an area resident contacted police at 11:04am on Sunday – after they noticed what looked like a pipe bomb in the alley behind the 600 block of W. Prescott.

Officers cordoned off the area after they located a device wrapped in duct tape with a wick out of the top that had burn marks.

The Riley County Bomb Squad responded, and x-rays showed the device was not an explosive, but a 12-ounce bottle filled with dirt.
