Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Salina Pair in Missouri

Two people from Salina were hurt in a weekend crash in Missouri when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1990 Dodge Dakota driven by 54-year-old George Duff of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, was headed north on Missouri 7 Highway. He crossed into oncoming traffic and struck head-on a 2013 Chevy Sonic driven by 29-year-old David Gavin of Salina.

After the first collision Duff’s truck slid and was rear-ended by a 1996 Chevrolet truck driven by 42-year-old Rachel Ferguson from Versailles, Missouri.

Three people were hurt, and transported to the hospital. They are Ferguson, Gavin, and a passenger in Gavin’s car. That passenger is 26-year-old Courtney Hail, who along with Gavin is from Salina. All three were buckled up.

Duff was not hurt, but was arrested. He could face charges that include second degree felony assault and driving while intoxicated.
