Strong Wind Whips Through Central Kansas

A windy, mild Sunday will give way to cold and wintry weather by week’s end.

According to the National Weather Service, the peak wind gust on Sunday was in Russell, where a peak gust of 54 miles-per-hour was clocked. A 51 mile-per-hour- gust was clocked in Hutchinson. Wind reaching 49 miles-per-hour was clocked in several other communities, including Salina.

Seasonable temperatures and a mostly sunny sky will start the work week. It will turn much colder by Thursday with increasing chances for wintry precipitation. A major winter storm is not anticipated.
