Stolen Wallet Leads to 2 Arrests

Police arrest a Wichita couple for going on a spree with stolen credit cards in Salina.

According Captain Mike Sweeney, 41-year-old Christopher Sampson and 32-year-old Elizabeth Sampson were arrested on Sunday night after they allegedly removed a wallet from a woman’s shopping cart at the Dillons Grocery Store at 2350 Planet Ave, then used a credit card and gas card at numerous locations.

Police used updates from the credit card company to inform them where the financial card was being used and a physical description of a dark truck seen in a video at a gas station to find the suspects.

Just after 11pm, an officer found the truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot and confronted the two when they emerged from the store with illegally purchased electronics.

Police say the woman threw down the stolen wallet when she saw the officer.

The two are now facing charges that include forgery, theft and criminal use of a financial card.

Captain Sweeney tells KSAL News that illgall purchases were made at two Rod’s Travel Centers on West Crawford and West Magnolia and also at a Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store.
