Stolen Car Recovered, Arrest Made

A brief car chase ends with the arrest of a Salina man.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, an officer who had filed the report of a stolen car on Tuesday morning, later recognized the vehicle while on patrol.

Police say the 2004 Honda Accord was stolen in the 700 block of Birch Tuesday, after the owner left it running on the street to warm up.

The brief chase began at 12th and Iron and ended after the stolen Honda hit a curb and a parked car at State Street and 12th.

Police arrested 21-year-old Charles Johnston on multiple charges that include felony vehicle theft plus fleeing and eluding.

No estimate was available on the damage done to both vehicles.

The Honda Accord is valued at $5,000.
