A traffic stop in Salina leads to the capture and arrest of a Texas man.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that an officer on patrol made a traffic stop Thursday night around around 10:30pm – prompting 32-year-old Roderick Payton of Galveston, Texas to jump out of the car and run.

Police say Payton left the 2007 Buick LaCrosse parked on the street in the 1600 block of S. Ohio.

Moments later, officers captured him in the 900 block of E. Cloud.

Police later verified the car was reported stolen in Texas City, Texas.

Payton is now facing charges that include vehicle theft and eluding law enforcement.
