Stick With Protruding Nails Used to Batter Woman

A Salina man has been arrested in connection with a recent alleged aggravated battery in which a woman was hit with a stick that had nails protruding from it.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that 34-year-old Eric Schiltz was arrested Monday evening, following a short foot chase that ended inside the Oakdale Towers senior apartments. He ran when officers arrived at his home at 644 Gypsum to arrest him on a warrant.

Schiltz is alleged to have hit a female acquaintance with a stick that had a nail protruding from it during a disturbance back on January 10th. The woman was not seriously hurt.

Schiltz could face charges that include aggravated battery and drug charges. The drug charges stem from personal use methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that was found in his home during a search after he was arrested.
