St. Francis Blesses, Breaks Ground

A major project at St. Francis Community Services is underway. Officials Thursday morning, blessed, and broke ground on a new psychiatric residential treatment facility at their location west of Salina.

The new $5 million facility will replace a smaller, aging facility. In 2010 the organization determined a need for a new, updated, psychiatric residential treatment facility.

The new facility will be a single-level structure, designed as a “sanctuary environment” to sustain and nurture the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of each child. It will include safety, medical, and therapeutic infrastructure along with private and communal meeting spaces.

St. Francis provides multiple services for children and family services. It started as a boys home in 1945, and today serves over 9,000 families and children in four states.

Fundraising for the new psychiatric residential treatment facility is ongoing. Donations can be made by contacting Steve Robinson or Mark Claussen at 1-800-423-1342 ext. 155.
