Veal, Nachbar Named to Shrine Bowl

A busy day for Saturday for Kansas as high school state football championship games took place.
Salina Central’s Malik Veal and Salina South’s Zach Nachbar were both selected to play for the West team in the 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl. Shrine Bowl rosters were released Thursday.
Veal, a running back, capped his career with 1,604 yards rushing, 314 receiving yards, and 24 touchdowns. The Mustangs finished 5-6, coming up short against Kapaun Mt. Carmel in the Class 5A quarterfinals.
Nachbar, a wide receiver, had 50 receptions for 1,182 yards and 16 touchdowns. The Cougars finished the year 11-2 and Class 5A state runner-up.
The 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl will be played July 26 at Pittsburg State University.
