Tuesday Hoops Preview: Central Girls Meet Maize

Mike Hammett - February 25, 2014 6:02 am

It’s the final week of the high school basketball regular season, and for most area teams, it’s the final night of regular season play tonight.

Salina Central and Salina South will both play on Friday, while Sacred Heart, Southeast of Saline and Ell-Saline end their regular seasons tonight.

It’s the biggest test of the season to-date for the Central girls tonight. The 18-0 and top-ranked Mustangs visit 14-4 Maize. The Mustangs took the first meeting by three points in January in Salina. Central can claim the girls’ program’s first outright AVCTL Division I title with a victory. The boys game features the 10-8 Mustangs against the 15-3 Eagles. Pregame is at 5:50pm with tip-off at 6 on SportsRadio 1150 KSAL and online at ksal.com.

Salina South plays its third game in five days tonight, visiting Campus. The South girls go for back-to-back wins, while the South boys try to get back on track after three losses last week. Pregame is at 5:50 with tip-off at 6 on Y93.7.

Sacred Heart ends the regular season tonight by hosting Ellsworth. The Sacred Heart girls are looking to move up in sub-state seeding, and can likely do so with a win over the Bearcats. The Sacred Heart boys are also fighting for their sub-state seed. Pregame is at 5:50 with tip-off at 6 on Classic Hits 104.9.

Southeast of Saline’s boys and girls try to build momentum for sub-state play tonight when they visit Republic County.

Ell-Saline’s boys and girls end the regular season with a road trip to Sedgwick.
