Train Robbers Rally Past Stockade

The Salina Stockade gave up two runs in the seventh inning and five more in the eighth, and come up short to Topeka, 12-7, at Dean Evans Stadium on Thursday night.

The Stockade had an early 4-0 lead after the first inning. Topeka would go up with two runs in the second, one in the third, and two more in the fourth to lead 5-4. The Stockade added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth to go back up 6-5, but then Topeka’s onslaught began to open up a big lead.

Morgan Blatnik was the only Salina player with two hits, as the Stockade managed just seven hits in the loss.

Francisco Leon took the loss in relief, giving up six runs on seven hits while striking out two in one and one-third innings. Skyler Janisse gave up five runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out four over six innings in the start.

The Stockade (11-16 Pecos League) visit Topeka for three more games this weekend before getting some time off early next week. The Stockade are back at Dean Evans Stadium on Thursday when they host Great Bend.
