Stockade Stunned in Roswell

KSAL Sports - July 8, 2016 6:48 am

The Salina Stockade used an eight-run fifth inning to build a 9-2 lead, but it wasn’t enough as Roswell rallied for a 10-9 win in the opener of a four-game series in Roswell, N.M., on Thursday night.

The Stockade broke a 1-1 tie with the big fifth. Ryo Haruyama had a RBI double and a two-RBI single in the frame. Jean Carlos Peralta also hit a two-RBI triple.

Roswell started chipping away, scoring single runs in the bottom of the fifth and sixth, before scoring twice in the seventh and eighth innings. The Invaders then capped the comeback with a three-run ninth to get the win.

Chad Flick took the loss, giving up the winning run on two hits, a walk and a strikeout in the final one-third of an inning. Tim Blackmon gave up two unearned runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts over five innings in the start.

Fransisco Leon had three hits, while Haruyama and Sal Palumbo had two hits each.

The Stockade (21-25 Pecos League) continues the series in Roswell tonight. The Stockade returns home next Friday.
