The Salina Stockade kept its postseason hopes alive by picking up an 18-6 win in Santa Fe on Wednesday night.
A night after surrendering 29 runs, the Stockade rebounded by striking for the first 10 runs of the contest, scoring three times each in the second, third and sixth innings, while adding a single run in the fourth. The Stockade then tallied four runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth to prevent a Fuego rally.
Ray Hernandez had a franchise-record nine RBIs in the win. Hernandez had four hits, including two home runs and a double. Jean Carlos Peralta had five hits, six RBIs, a home run and a double.
Dalton Bernardi picked up the win, throwing 7 and 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits with three walks while striking out 13.
The Stockade is 29-35 overall, and sits a half-game behind Topeka for the third and final playoff spot in the Pecos League’s North Division with one game left for the Stockade. A win tonight for Salina forces a one-game playoff against Topeka in Trinidad, Colo., on Friday, with the winner then taking on the host Triggers in a three-game series.
