Stockade Splits Twin Bill with Topeka

The Salina Stockade split Tuesday night’s doubleheader with Topeka, losing 5-0 before winning 4-2 at Dean Evans Stadium.
In game one, the Stockade struggled to get the offense going, mustering just four hits in the loss. Ryo Haruyama had two of the four hits for Salina. Gilbert Barrera took the loss, giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings.
In game two, the Stockade answered Topeka’s run in the top of the first with two of their own in the bottom half. Saul Palumbo hit a two-run home run in the fourth to give the Stockade a 4-1 lead before they held on for the 4-2 win. Kevin Delzell threw the complete game, giving up two runs on nine hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
The Stockade (18-18 Pecos League) visits Topeka tonight. The Stockade is on the road until July 15.
