Southeast to Play for Titles at Herington

Southeast of Saline will play for a couple of championships on Saturday, as the Trojans swept Rural Vista on Friday at the Herington Tournament. The girls defeated Rural Vista 44-23, while the boys won 51-39.

Southeast of Saline trailed 12-10 after a quarter in the boys game, but the Trojans won the second quarter 13-6 to lead 23-18 at the half. The Trojans then used a 12-5 third quarter to expand the lead to 35-23 after three quarters. In the final frame, Rural Vista would try to make a push, but the Trojans held on for the win.

Southeast was led by Easton Montgomery and Ben Stutterheim with 16 points each.

The Trojan boys are 3-0 and face Centre for the tournament title.

In the girls game, Southeast dominated the first quarter, leading 8-1 after one. Rural Vista would cut the lead to five at halftime at 17-12. However, Southeast would pull away in the second half, outscoring Rural Vista 16-5 in the third and 11-6 in the fourth.

Erica Montgomery led the Trojans with 15 points. Allison Stutterheim had 12 points and Kylee Thaxton added 10.

Southeast is 3-0 and faces Northern Heights for the tournament title.
