Southeast Posts Two Wins in Herington

The Southeast of Saline basketball teams swept Wakefield on Thursday at the Herington Tournament.

In the girls game, Southeast sprinted out to a 25-4 lead and never looked back. The Trojans pushed the lead to 52-18 heading to the fourth quarter and picked up the 63-25 win.

Erica Montgomery led the way with 12 points, while Kylee Poague had 11 points and Kyle Thaxton 10.

The Southeast girls are now 2-0.

In the boys game, Southeast was up 26-18 at halftime, but outscored Wakefield by 11 in the third quarter to lead 46-27 after three, cruising to the 61-37 win.

Easton Montgomery had 18 points to lead Southeast. Ben Stutterheim added 15.

Southeast boys are now 2-0.

Southeast’s boys and girls face off against Rural Vista, a combination of Hope and White City, at 4 and 5:30pm today.
