South Softball Splits with Hays

The Salina South softball team lost for the first time this season on Thursday night, splitting a doubleheader with Hays at Bill Burke Park. The Cougars took game one 9-4 before Hays won the second game 13-4.

In game one, South pushed across three runs in the second inning and two more in the third. Hailey Chapman was the winning pitcher, going five and one-third innings while striking out six. Cadie O’Donnell had three hits, while Alison Rassette, Olivia Giroux and Carlie Olson all had two hits.

In the second game, Hays scored six times in the second to take control. Bre Hogan took the loss for South. The Cougars had two hits each from Rassette, Giroux and Morgan Bryant.

The Cougars are 8-1 on the season.
