South Baseball Splits with Campus

The Salina South baseball team split its AVCTL Division I opening doubleheader at Campus on Tuesday, dropping the first game 7-1 before picking up a 5-2 win in game two.

In the opener, Campus put the game away with a four-run sixth inning to go up 7-1. Dalton Wassenberg took the loss on the mound. Aaron Mar had a pair of hits, including a double.

In game two, Jacob Yarochowicz picked up his first win of the season. Yarochowicz gave up eight hits over five and two-thirds innings. Zach Nachbar pitched the final four outs to get his second save. The Cougars scored twice in the second and once in the third before picking up RBI later in the game from Wassenberg and Mar.

The Cougars are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in AVCTL Division I. South hosts Newton on Friday.
