Saline County Tuesday Hoops Preview

It’s the start of the final three weeks of the high school basketball regular season tonight. A full slate of games is scheduled. All games tip-off at 6 for the girls with the boys to follow.

Salina Central is at home against Hays. The Mustang girls are 13-0 and ranked No. 1 in Class 5A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association for the second straight week. Hays is 0-13, and has lost 12 of 13 games by 10-plus points. Meanwhile, the Hays boys are 13-0 and ranked second in 5A in this week’s coaches’ poll. Central is 8-5 after Friday’s loss at Newton. Salina South hosts Newton. The Newton girls drop to ninth in this week’s coaches’ poll after Friday’s loss to top-ranked Salina Central, while the South girls are coming off a loss to Valley Center. The Newton boys picked up a 10-point win over Salina Central on Friday, while Salina South struggled in Friday’s loss at Valley Center. Pregame coverage starts at 5:50pm on Y93.7.

Sacred Heart continues North Central Activities Association play tonight at Russell. The Sacred Heart girls lost to Minneapolis on Friday while Russell defeated Republic County. The Knight boys made a living at the free throw line in their win over Minneapolis on Friday, while Russell’s struggles continued with a loss to Republic County. Pregame coverage starts at 5:50pm on Classic Hits 104.9.

Southeast of Saline re-enters NCAA play at Beloit tonight after sweeping Chapman in a non-league doubleheader Friday night at Southeast.

Ell-Saline visits Marion in Heart of America League play tonight. The Cardinals were swept by Moundridge on Friday.
