Salina South Volleyball Drops Two

The Salina South volleyball team lost a pair of matches on Tuesday, dropping to 0-8 on the season.
The Cougars fell to Maize 25-16, 21-25, 25-22 and lost to Great Bend 25-22, 25-15.
In the opener against Maize, the Cougars lost the first set 25-16 after Maize scored eight straight points in the middle of the set to take a lead. In the second set, the Cougars pulled out a 25-21 win. South led 20-13 before Maize closed within two. However, the Cougars held off the charge for the set win. In the deciding set, the Cougars scored four-straight points to go up 22-19. Maize would rally, scoring six straight points to regain the lead and pick up the 25-22 win.
In the second match against Great Bend, the Panthers led for most of the first set, but South never let them get too far away. However, the Cougars could never get in front in the 25-22 loss. In the second set, Great Bend built a big 9-1 lead early, and never let South get closer than five in a 25-15 win.
Hailey Chapman had nine kills, while Amanda Clayton added seven. Olivia Streit had 26 assists while Cadie O’Donnell had 32 digs.
