The Salina South girls golf team returns very little for fifth-year head coach Trey Crow.

The Cougars graduated all but one varsity player from last season’s team.

Senior Kallie Ferguson returns to the Cougars, and Crow looks for freshman AnaliesaBridge to step up on the varsity level.

“We need to get more experienced on the course,” Crow said. “I graduated all but one varsity player last year, so we are fairly inexperienced.”

Even though the Cougars lack experience, Crow thinks there is potential to send some golfers to the state tournament.

“I would expect us to improve throughout the year as a team,” Crow said. “I think we have a few girls who have the ability to qualify for state if they focus and really work hard.”

The Cougars open the season on Tuesday in Hays at Smoky Hill Country Club. The Cougars host their invitational on Tuesday, September 24 at Salina Municipal Golf Course.
