Sacred Heart Volleyball Splits with Ellsworth

Sacred Heart ended its season Saturday night in the 3A Marion substate championship game with a 46-36 loss to top-seeded and top-ranked Hesston.
The Sacred Heart volleyball team split its home matches with Ellsworth on Tuesday.
The Bearcats took the first match 12-25, 25-19, 25-13. Sacred Heart took the second match 25-18, 25-14.
In the first match, the Knights used a 12-3 stretch to build a 16-7 lead in the first set on their way to the 25-12 set win. In the second set, the Knights led 13-11 before Ellsworth scored four straight points to take the lead. Sacred Heart picked up the next point before the Bearcats rattled off four more points to take control in the 25-19 win. In the final set, Ellsworth was in control. The Bearcats led 11-2 and never looked back in the 25-13 win.
In the second match, the Knights led the first set throughout and took the 25-18 win. In the second set, the Knights broke a 6-6 tie by scoring six of the next seven points to take a 12-7 lead and rolled to the 25-14 win.
Cara Donley had 15 kills while Haley Rapp had seven blocks. Sarah Dix had 48 assists while Maggie Doll added 11 digs.
The Knights are now 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the NCAA, tied for second place with Ellsworth and Beloit.
