The Sacred Heart Knights have made the play-offs for the fifth consecutive year with a 35-0 win at Moundridge.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Sacred Heart used a 9-0 run to take the lead for the rest of the game in a 48-39 win over Clay Center at the SIT Thursday.
The Knights led by as many as five points early in the game, but the Tigers came back to take what would be their only lead of the game at 10-8. The score was tied 10-10 after the opening eight minutes. Scoring the last two points of the first quarter and the first seven points of the second quarter, a 9-0 run gave Sacred Heart the lead for good. The Knights led 21-12 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Sacred Heart was ahead by as many as 15 points and were on top 34-24 heading into the final frame. The Knights extended their lead to as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter, thanks in part to three intentional fouls being called against Clay Center. The Tigers closed the game on an 11-3 run, but the Knights held on for a nine-point win.
Sacred Heart improves to an 8-3 record. Brooks Brown led the Knights in scoring with 14 points, including 4 three-point baskets.
The Knights advance to face Andover in the fifth place boys game at the SIT Friday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:15pm and the game will air on Sportsradio 1150 KSAL.
