The Sacred Heart Knights have made the play-offs for the fifth consecutive year with a 35-0 win at Moundridge.

The Sacred Heart Knights have made the play-offs for the fifth consecutive year with a 35-0 win at Moundridge.

The Sacred Heart cross country teams return experience at the varsity level for 13th-year head coach Brad Dix.
“Both teams seem to have a strong lead runner, but the girls are going to have the most experience and depth,” Dix said.
The girls have a pair of seniors in Kira Rutherford and Tracie Thibault. They are joined by juniors Kate Schieferecke and Sara Vandervoort and sophomore Alex Elmore.
The boys don’t have any senior returners, but do have four juniors in Chris Sandquist, Collin Smith, Spencer Roberts and Antonio Hernandez. Sophomore Joshua Bergkamp is back as well.
“Both teams need to get stronger and push each other,” Dix said. “We need to create depth and competition from within both teams to bring out the best in each one of them.”
Dix says his teams’ goals never change.
“We want to give our best effort every single day,” Dix said. “They owe it to their teammates to give their best effort whether practice or meet, and if they can look each other in the eye at the end of the year and say that they’ve done that, we’ve had a successful season.”
