A busy first day at the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Championship is in the books.

The most remarkable game of the day was the first, where No. 17 Western Nebraska erased a 15-point deficit with less than three-and-a-half minutes to go to defeat No. 16 State Fair (Mo.) 63-60.

In other games, No. 9 Northwest Florida State rolled by No. 24 Denmark Tech (S.C.) 102-55. No. 13 Blinn (Texas) holds off No. 20 Baton Rouge (La.) 82-75. No. 12 Salt Lake (Utah) outlasts No. 21 Lake Region State (N.D.) 73-63. No. 18 ASA (N.Y.) defeats No. 15 New Mexico 66-56. And No. 10 Butler sets an NJCAA tournament record by allowing just 31 points to No. 23 Southwest Mississippi in the final game of the day. The Grizzlies win 69-31.

Today’s games start at 10am. No. 14 Eastern Arizona meets No. 19 Northern Oklahoma-Enid and No. 11 Tyler (Texas) takes on No. 22 Southwestern Illinois to complete the first round. Second round action starts at 2 when No. 1 seed and two-time defending national champion Trinity Valley (Texas) meets No. 17 Western Nebraska. No. 8 South Georgia Tech battles No. 9 Northwest Florida State at 4:30. The final two games of the night have No. 4 Walters State (Tenn.) against No. 13 Blinn and No. 5 Central Arizona takes on No. 12 Salt Lake.
