Kansas Wesleyan’s Vanessa Kresin has been selected as the KCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her efforts in a pair of games for the Coyotes last week, selected by the KCAC Sports Information Directors and announced by the KCAC office late Monday afternoon.

Kresin, a junior guard from Glen Elder, Kan., averaged 25 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Coyotes last week as Wesleyan went 1-1. Wesleyan picked up an 82-81 win over Peru State for the Coyotes’ first win of the season and then lost a hard fought battle to Hastings 77-65.

Against Peru State, Kresin scored a career high 33 points, with five rebounds and two steals, and followed it with a 17 point, four rebound performance against Hastings. Kresin also shot an amazing 62.1 percent from the field for the weelk, including a 63.6 percent effort from 3-point range.

The Coyotes are 2-3 on the season after Monday night’s 73-61 win over Culver-Stockton in Wesleyan’s home opener at Mabee Arena. The Coyotes are on the road this weekend, heading to Siloam Springs, Ark., to play in the John Brown Classic on Friday against John Brown and on Saturday against No. 10 ranked College of the Ozarks.
