KWU’s Elkinton Named KCAC Setter of Week

Kansas Wesleyans Taylor Elkinton was selected as the KCAC Setter of the Week as the conference announced the Volleyball Players of the Week for the first time during the 2013 season.
Elkinton, a junior from Wichita, averaged 8.14 assists per game last week in four matches for the Coyotes, as they went 2-2 at the Bellevue (Neb.) Labor Day Bruin Classic in Bellevue, Neb. The Coyotes faced some stiff competition in the Classic, as three of the four opponents faced were receiving votes or ranked in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.
She had a match high 49 assists in a four-set win over Mayville State (N.D.), and recorded 40 assists in Wesleyan’s four-set win over Ozarks (Mo.). She also served four aces during the tournament and tallied a total of 24 digs.
Wesleyan is 3-5 overall on the season heading into Wednesday’s KCAC opener against Saint Mary at 7 p.m., in Mabee Arena. It is also the home opener for the Coyotes. A JV match against Friends precedes the varsity match against the Spires and begins at 4:30 p.m.
