The Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Soccer team honored its 2013 Senior Class on Saturday before the game against the Sterling Warriors and got two goals from Kaitlyn Hamersky as the Coyotes would remain unbeaten in the KCAC in 2013 with a 2-0 win on Saturday at Salina Stadium.
Hamersky, the lone four-year senior on the team this season, scored both goals for the Coyotes. After a successful freshman campaign, Hamersky missed considerable portions of the last two seasons due to injury, making a comeback this season, and made the most of her opportunity on Saturday.
Her first goal came in the eighth minute when she was on the receiving end of a corner kick by Crystal Sanchez. The ball from the right side dropped right to Hamersky just outside the right post where she headed it in.
Wesleyan controlled the first half, outshooting Sterling 7-3, but would take the 1-0 lead into the half.
Hamersky’s second goal came in the 73rd minute to extend Wesleyan’s lead.
The Coyotes (11-3-3, 8-0 KCAC) will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday at home against Saint Mary. Kickoff from Salina Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m.
