KWU Tennis Falls to McPherson

After having to postpone the matches against McPherson College from Monday to Tuesday, the Kansas Wesleyan tennis teams were both tripped up by the Bulldogs at Jerry Ivey Park and the Salina Country Club.
Weather again played spoiler for the Coyotes on Monday, After posted a high of 90 degrees on Saturday, snow on Monday morning forced the postponement of the matches until Tuesday afternoon.
On the women’s side, McPherson came away with an 8-1 win over the Coyotes.
In doubles, McPherson’s Nikki and Brooke Vorhees beat Cassidy Cook and Sydney Reese8-3; Emma Sheehan and Brittany Gourlay beat Chelsea Ebenkamp and Vallerie Zuaznabar 8-2; and Chandler Short and Kara Wright knocked off Maria Rodriguez and Rachel Hasch 8-3.
In singles, Ebenkamp picked up Wesleyan’s only point of the match, defeating Gourlay 6-3, 6-1. In the other singles matches, Sheehan beat Rodriguez 6-0, 6-0; Nikki Vorhees beat Reese 6-0, 6-0; Brooke Vorhees knocked off Cook 6-3, 6-2; Claire Crossman bested Zuaznabar 6-1, 6-1; and Ashley Allmon beat Hasch 2-6, 6-3, 11-9.
On the men’s side, McPherson swept the Coyotes 9-0.
In singles, Fajula beat Mendez 6-1, 6-0; Allen Darmawan beat White 6-3, 6-4; Jaime Roman beat Railsback 6-1, 6-1; and Irwin beat Bahan 6-0, 6-0.
Wesleyan heads to Winfield on Thursday to take on the Southwestern Moundbuilders.
