MARSHALL, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan faced its second straight Top 20 ranked opponent on Monday in the Missouri Valley Vikings. After Saturday’s overtime thriller against No. 17 USAO, the Coyotes came up just short against the Vikings in a 1-0 loss at Gregg-Mitchell Field.
Missouri Valley outshot the Coyotes 29-6 in the match and 18-1 on shots on frame in the match, which was delayed for nearly 40 minutes in the first half because of lightning.
The lone goal in the match came in the 64th minute when Rafael Alcaraz finished off a ball from Raul Beneit.
Cameron Meeker (JR/La Canada, Calif.) led the Coyotes with three shots in the match.
Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday as the Coyotes host Southwestern Christian at 11:30 a.m. at Salina Stadium.
