KSHSAA Releases Winter Postseason Assignments

The Kansas State High School Activities Association released postseason assignments for basketball and wrestling on Monday.
Salina Central and Salina South are in the same Class 5A sub-state basketball group, and are joined by Andover, Arkansas City, Newton, Valley Center, Kapaun Mt. Carmel and Wichita Heights. In Class 5A, the group of eight is split into two four-team sub-states, with the higher seeds hosting in both rounds.
Sacred Heart and Southeast of Saline’s basketball teams will play in the Class 3A sub-state hosted by Marion. The trio will be joined by Halstead, Haven, Hesston, Hutchinson Trinity and Sedgwick.
Ell-Saline will play in the Class 2A sub-state hosted by Solomon. Republic County, Bennington, Herington, Rural Vista (a combination of Hope and White City), Wakefield and Washington County are also in the sub-state.
In wrestling, Salina Central and Salina South will compete in the Class 5A regional at Wichita Heights along with Great Bend, Hays, Maize South, Newton and Valley Center.
Southeast of Saline, Sacred Heart and St. John’s Military are all in the Class 3-2-1A regional at Hoisington. Others competing will be Chaparral, Republic County, Beloit, St. John’s Beloit, Bennington, Cheney, Ellsworth, Garden Plain, Halstead, Hesston, Fairfield, Lincoln, Lyons, Minneapolis, Osborne, Stafford and Sterling.
Wrestling regionals will be February 21 and 22, while basketball sub-state is March 3-8.
