High School Golfers Wrap Up Season

The high school golf season came to a close on Tuesday with state tournaments across Kansas.

The top individual finish in the area went to Sacred Heart’s Brooks Brown at the Class 3A tournament in Cheney. Brown shot a 77 to put himself in a four-way tie for sixth, but finished eighth after two playoff holes. Teammate Jack Skidmore shot an 86 and placed 33rd. Southeast of Saline’s Jacob Ostmeyer shot an 87 to place 37th.

In Class 2A, Ell-Saline’s Tyler Weems shot an 80 to place 19th at Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course in Hays.

In Class 5A at Wichita Country Club, Salina Central shot a 361 to finish 12th as a team. The Mustangs were led by Matt Grammer’s 86, while Brayden Neuschafer shot an 87. Taegan Jayne shot a 92 and Evan Lambert had a 96 to round out team scoring.
